East River Electric To Host Open House for New Service Center

December 19, 2008

A community open house for East River Electric’s new Service Center will be held Tuesday, Dec. 30 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided. A freewill offering will be collected with proceeds donated to Habitat for Humanity.

During the open house, community members are encouraged to take self-guided tours of the facility. East River staff will be present to answer questions about the purpose and construction of the building, which includes many energy efficient components.

“We will be renewing a commitment, sinking roots that started with seeds that were planted in 1950 even deeper into this community,” said East River General Manager Jeff Nelson.

Over the next several weeks, personnel from material management, operations, maintenance and line crews will move into the new building, located on the west side of Madison on SD Hwy. 34.

During the December Board of Directors Meeting, the Service Center was dedicated. The ribbon cutting ceremony included members of the Madison Chamber of Commerce and other community leaders.

The Service Center is step one of a three-phase renovation and expansion project at East River which includes a remodel of the existing Service Center and an addition to the Headquarters Building. The final phase is scheduled for completion by the end of 2010.
